Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI)

ICSI( Intra Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection) is the process by which a single sperm is injected into an ovum guided by a series of images transmitted by a High Powered microscope, using a micro-manipulator. CARe Hospital is one of the few infertility hospitals providing this Assisted Reproductive Technique (ART) in Bangladesh. CARe Hospital is the only hospital in Bangladesh which has two fully equipped ICSI stations. Over the years ICSI has become the procedure of choice for treating male factor infertility and has replaced all other methods. We have been successfully using this technology since the birth of our first ICSI baby, and Bangladesh’s first ICSI baby Persa in 20th July 2001.
The 1st ICSI Baby of Bangladesh, PERSA
was born on 20th July 2001 at CARe IVF.

Professor M.Moazzam Hossain, Chairman,
CARe Hospital and a renowned Paediatric
Nephrologist, himself maintains the ICSI lab
on par with the international guidelines
and standards.

Following ICSI the fertilized ovum starts to divide and transform into a blastocyst which is transferred into the mother’s uterus. ICSI clearly enjoys a distinct advantage over other procedures previously used to treat, in that, using this process, problems with sperm quality and quantity can be easily by passed, as a single healthy sperm is enough for ICSI.
